ReelShort Cost Per Season: What One Full Series Really Costs
- There is no separate "season" to buy — one series is the season. The two we measured ran 54 and 81 episodes, so the episode count, not the label, sets the cost.
- The formula is: (total episodes − free episodes) × 60 coins, then convert coins to dollars at your pack rate.
- Two series we measured came out at $19.99 (54 episodes) and roughly $35–50 (81 episodes) on the coin route.
- The free allowance absorbs a surprising share: 10 advert-unlocks a day is 10 episodes, plus about 375 coins from the 7-day check-in.
- VIP only beats coins per season if you finish that season in under two weeks. Slower than that, coins win.
“Cost per season” is the question people actually have about ReelShort, and it is the one nobody answers. The app does not publish a monthly price, does not publish a per-series price, and rotates its discounts daily. So we measured it instead: watched the paywalls, counted the episodes, and did the arithmetic on two real series.
What “a season” means here
First, a correction that saves you money. Short-drama apps do not sell seasons the way a television show does. One series is the season. That series might run 54 episodes or 81 — those are the two we opened and counted — but there is no “Season 3” waiting to be sold to you separately.
That matters for search results, because the phrase “cost per season” returns very little that is accurate. It also matters for your budget: the number to plan around is cost per finished series, not cost per month.
Every figure below comes from an Android phone with a US Google Play account, checked in-app on 8–9 October 2026, with screenshots at each step. The prices rotate — we saw a 67%-off offer one day and a 21%-off offer the next — so treat them as dated measurements, not a rate card.
The per-season formula
Three steps, and you can run them for any series in under a minute:
Find the episode count. It is on the series page. Count the episodes, not the parts.
Subtract the free block. Roughly 10–16 episodes play before the paywall, and the exact number varies by series and is not disclosed in advance. Open the series, scroll to the first locked episode, and note which one it is.
Multiply the remainder by 60 coins — the verified per-episode price — then convert to dollars at the pack rate you would actually buy at.
| Figure | Measured value |
|---|---|
| Coins per locked episode | 60 coins Stated on the paywall itself, not hidden |
| Coin packs | $4.99 – $49.99 $4.99/500, $9.99/1,100, $19.99/2,400, $29.99/3,900, $49.99/7,500 |
| Cost per coin | $0.0100 → $0.0067 Falls by a third from the smallest to the largest pack |
| Free block before the paywall | 10 – 16 episodes Varies by series. We measured 14 and 15 on two titles. |
| Free advert-unlocks | 10 per day Confirmed on two separate days — 10 episodes a day, free |
| 7-day check-in total | about 375 coins Day 7 alone pays 200 coins, more than three episodes |

Three worked examples
These use the two series we actually opened, so the episode counts are real rather than illustrative.
Example 1 — a 54-episode series: about $19.99
The title we measured had 54 episodes and the paywall arrived at episode 15, so 40 episodes needed unlocking. At 60 coins each that is 2,400 coins — which is exactly the $19.99 pack. A full season, start to finish, for the price of one month of a streaming service and no auto-renewal attached.
Example 2 — an 81-episode series: roughly $35–50
The longer title ran 81 episodes with the paywall at episode 16, leaving 66 locked episodes, or 3,960 coins. Coins are sold in fixed packs, so the total depends on how you assemble it:
| Pack combination | Cost | Coins | Covers the season? |
|---|---|---|---|
| $19.99 × 2 | $39.98 | 4,800 | Yes, with 840 left over |
| $29.99 + $4.99 | $34.98 | 4,400 | Yes, with 440 left over |
| $49.99 × 1 | $49.99 | 7,500 | Yes, with 3,540 left over |
The third option is the worst per season and the best per coin. That is the trap in this pricing: the pack that offers the best rate is only the best value if you finish another season.
The cheapest route, in order
If the goal is to pay as little as possible per season, do these in order and stop whenever the series is finished:
- Watch the free block. 10–16 episodes at no cost. No action needed.
- Use the 10 daily advert-unlocks. This is the single most under-used free allowance in the app. Ten episodes a day, and a 60-episode season is finishable in under a week without spending anything. The honest cost is time and the advert quality, which on our account was a fake insurance offer and a TikTok install prompt.
- Run the check-in for a week. About 375 coins, with day 7 alone paying 200. That is more than three episodes free.
- Then buy coins — and buy them from the unlock popup, not the store page. The store page starts at $19.99. The $4.99 and $9.99 packs exist only inside the popup, so buying from the store costs you the worst available rate.
A viewer who runs the free loop for a week collects about 375 coins plus up to 70 advert-unlocked episodes. Most series we measured do not have that many locked episodes. The paid path exists for impatience, not for access.
When VIP wins per season
VIP is a time-based pass, so its cost per season depends entirely on how fast you watch. Using the renewal rates we recorded:
| VIP tier | Cost per week | One season in 1 week | In 2 weeks | In 4 weeks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly (with Ads) | $5.99 | $5.99 | $11.98 | $23.96 |
| Weekly (Ad-Free) | $11.99 | $11.99 | $23.98 | $47.96 |
| Weekly (Standard) | $19.99 | $19.99 | $39.98 | $79.96 |
Compare that to the coin route, which is $19.99 to about $50 per season and does not care how long you take. The rule that falls out of the two tables:
- Finish a season in under about two weeks → VIP is cheaper, and much cheaper if you are bingeing several series at once.
- Take a month or more → coins are cheaper, because they do not charge you for the weeks you do not open the app.
- Cannot say how fast you watch → coins, because they have a ceiling and VIP does not.
The annual tier changes the shape again: at $199.99 for a year it works out at roughly $3.85 a week, which beats every weekly renewal price on the list. It only makes sense if you are confident you will still be watching in twelve months — and it is the only tier where the per-season maths stops mattering.
The renewal charge lands 24 hours before each period ends, at the renewal rate rather than the intro rate. Our cancellation walkthrough covers how to stop it — read it before you subscribe, not after the first charge.
Where this breaks down
This is a limitation of the method, not a hedge:
- The free block is not published, so you cannot compute the cost before you start watching. Every calculation here needs the first locked episode number, and the only way to get it is to open the series. This does not work as a spreadsheet exercise; it is a two-minute check inside the app.
- These are Android prices from a US-route account. ReelShort’s prices moved with our exit country during testing, and iOS billing is a different system we have not measured. If you pay on Apple or outside the US, your numbers differ.
- The intro price rotates, so any figure you read online is a snapshot. We documented 67% off and 21% off on consecutive days from the same account. Anchor everything to the renewal price and the coin pack rates.
- Even the checkout channel changes the total. On 10 October we recorded the app quoting US$10.99 for a weekly tier while the web checkout quoted $11.87 including tax for the same tier on the same day — two parallel payment routes with different totals.
- “Cost per season” is not a comparison between apps. Apps with a cheaper season may have a smaller catalogue or shorter episodes. Our ReelShort vs DramaBox breakdown covers why an annual-fee app can be structurally cheaper per hour even when its headline price looks higher.
Bottom line
One full ReelShort series costs $19.99 to about $50 in coins, and nothing on the coin route changes that number based on how long you take. The free allowances — 10–16 free episodes, 10 advert-unlocks a day, about 375 coins a week from check-ins — are large enough that a patient viewer can finish a season for nothing.
If you want the number for your specific series, you can have it in two minutes: open the series, find the first locked episode, subtract it from the total, multiply by 60 coins, and pick the smallest pack combination that covers it. That is the whole method, and it is more accurate than anything this page — or any price comparison site — can tell you about your own screen.
If your habit turns out to be more than one season a month, the arithmetic changes in a way that is worth checking before you commit to a weekly tier: see coins vs VIP for the break-even points, and how to get free coins for the free loop in full detail.
Frequently asked questions
How much does one full season of a ReelShort series cost?
Between roughly $20 and $50, depending on how many episodes the series has and which coin pack you buy. Two series we measured: a 54-episode title needed 2,400 coins to finish, which is exactly the $19.99 pack; an 81-episode title needed 3,960 coins, which comes to about $35–50 depending on the pack combination. One episode costs 60 coins, verified in-app on Android in October 2026.
Why is ReelShort priced per season rather than per month?
Because there is no monthly price. The app sells coins for per-episode unlocks and VIP passes on weekly and annual terms. The useful unit of cost for a viewer is cost per finished series, which is what this page calculates. Anyone quoting a single monthly figure is guessing at your viewing habit.
Is it cheaper to buy VIP than coins for one season?
Only if you finish that season fast. Weekly VIP renewed at $5.99–$19.99 per week when we checked. A 60-episode season watched over two weeks costs $12–$40 on VIP, which can beat the coin route. Watched over a month, the same season costs $24–$80 on VIP while the coins still cost about $20–50 in total. The coin route has a ceiling; VIP does not.
Do the free episodes change the cost per season?
Yes, and by more than people expect. The free block before the paywall is not fixed: we recorded an 81-episode series with 15 free episodes and a 54-episode series with 14. On top of that, 10 advert-unlocks a day and a 7-day check-in worth about 375 coins are free. A patient viewer can finish a season without paying at all.
Does ReelShort charge the same price everywhere?
No. We recorded two separate checkout channels on the same day — Google Play billing and the reelshort.com web checkout — quoting different totals for the same weekly VIP tier. Our exit country also changes what the app shows. Treat any price you read online, including ours, as a dated measurement rather than a fixed rate.
